Seventy-five years ago today, a massive hurricane ripped its way up the mid-Atlantic and New England coast, permanently changing the shape of Long Island’s shoreline. It was before they started giving “people names” to big storms, so this one was afterward dubbed the Long Island Express.
Hurricane Sandy was huge, but the Long Island Express was HUGE!
Wow. I didn’t know another hurricane had done so much damage. Awful!
